I knit a lot actually. It's just mainly secret!!! A lot of Twilight knitting going on and Cat in the Socks! I am so excited for you guys to see this kit. It is too cool!
I actually saw Ysolda's Ripley on Ravelry and just had to knit it. I needed a) something for me b) something quick and c) something I could share!
This fit the bill! I should BO tonight as a matter of fact.
It is made in Extra Squishy in the new kettles. Raspberry is the colorway (you know I love purple!!!)

I'm also knitting the Emerald Isle Cardi from the Fall Knitscene and it is going quite well. I need updated pics because I have a lot more done but here it is so far:

I'm getting Baby Bums Round III, Twilight and Mayberry out this week so I can post photos of secret stuff next week! I'm in love with the Twilight yarn and pattern, I hope you guys like it too!

I've been working on this project for awhile now and we are FINALLY ready to get it rolling!
Dr. Seuss wrote my absolute favorite children books and now that I have my own kids they are even more enjoyable.

Wow, what a week it's been! I've been working day and night to get all club shipments out this week. Bundled Babies, Baby Bums, Sock and Fiber Club AND the Twilight Club! So far there has been great response from it!
I added this months pattern to Ravelry for those of you that are starting right away. I've had a lot of people ask about doing Twilight II since the Twilight Club filled up. I'm thinking on it, I promise.
I finally got my new Fricke Skein winder in. The lack of a winder had dramatically slowed down my production but we are back up and running! I've gotten tons of yarn dyed and skeined the past couple of days, you just wouldn't believe the difference.
Aside from yarn work I have been doing some knitting! I cast on for the Summer of Love Lace socks on Monday and I should say that I am doing them both at the same time and am on the heel! This has been a wonderful pattern. I'm knitting it in Footapy in Peace. Check out my Ravelry page to see photos. Speaking of Ravelry, have you joined our group? If not it's called the KnitFit Yarn Fans. Come on, we'd love to have you!
I'm involved in a new project as well in case you haven't heard. Leslie (from Greenberry House) and I have started a podcast called Knitting in the Round.
So far I'm having a lot of fun with it! There is a lot to learn and improve upon, but I'm looking forward to it. Episode 2 is coming up on Monday!

Sock Summit is only a couple weeks away! I am so jealous of all you lucky people that get to go. Take lots of pictures!

How many WIP's do you have?

This week in my limited spare time I have been trying to organize all of my WIP's so they may possibly get finished in my lifetime. Possibly. So I've been putting them in their own project bag, trying to take photos so I can put them on Ravelry and accounting for my needles. (see this all started with a tantrum because I found 1 size 5dpn. 1! The other 4 are still MIA.)
I even purchased new project bags so the all can be contained!
This got me thinking, how many WIP's does the average knitter have?
I haven't totaled mine yet but I can say that number grew today! Today I cast on the GORGEOUS Hillflowers Stole from KnitSpot and have not wanted to put it down. Excellent pattern. I'm quite pleased at the look. I'm using Footsie in the Nevermore colorway.

I just cannot wait to finish it! Of course their are projects I HAVE to finish but this one has my interest! I also intend on making an adult sweater soon. My first. (yep all socks and baby stuff here!)
So.... How many WIP's do you have and how do you keep up with them all?!

I'm working on a new and really exciting project with Leslie from The Greenberry House. That hopefully will be ready for you all to see or I should say hear next week!
We will be recording a new and exciting podcast called Knitting in the Round. It will feature segments on knitting, spinning, dyeing and crocheting as well as information on different fiber animals, fiber preparation etc. we will be interviewing knowledgeable and entertaining fiber folk go give you and educational yet interesting listen. We will also be reviewing favorite books and various fibery tools and fiber. I'm looking forward to getting started and hope you will give it a try!

I am really, really excited to send out the Twilight Club shipments next week. Really. I LOVE the pattern and am drooling over the colorway... I hope all of you members love it! I'll post photos when I'm sure the members have gotten theirs.

It's our Anniversary this week!!! In honor of our anniversary we are starting the 2009 Flock to Sock Spin a long!
Flock to Sock is a spin a long that includes 6 oz of hand dyed superwash merino in a special color that is a secret until you get your shipment!
Sign ups are open until August 1st and will ship the 2nd week in August. Once you join become a member of our Ravelry group to post photos of your yarn that you are spinning with your fiber, or upload it to Flickr and tag is Flock to Sock.

Wonderful trip to The Greenberry House!

This afternoon Sideshow Baby and I made the beautiful trip to Meadows of Dan, VA to visit The Greenberry House! What a beautiful day for a roadtrip.

Unfortunately past this point my iPhone is merely a camera and calendar. It takes amazing photos for such a tiny device though!

It's a GORGEOUS drive on the winding roads through the Blue Ridge Mtns. On the way up I took Squirell Spur Road.

Sideshow Baby was happy to get to the top and ready to see some beautiful hand dyed fibers, yarns, handspun yarns and natural fibers.

Such a pretty view from the parking lot!

We had a great visit with Leslie talking about our "project" (I'll talk about that in a sepearte post) and brought home some gorgeous fiber. Including some natural llama. Sooooo soft!

On the way back I took the Blue Ridge Parkway. A gorgeous scenic route.

I saw this from the road and had to stop. How neat!

We turned for good ole Mayberry and made it home safe and sound.

I'm still working on my secret socks so no knitting to post. I'll be glad when I'm done with secrets so I can share!
I am looking forward to some spinning and will be sure to post that!

Knit Fit Knitting announces after much thought... We have given our business goals much thought over the last 6 months. As everyone knows with the economy everyone is struggling. We have been so fortunate to do nothing but grow in the last 6 months and we are so grateful to all of our wonderful customers for our growth!
We have always been huge supporters of local artist, farmers and suppliers and we would like to do our best to support their business. With that thought we are moving Knit Fit Knitting Hand Painted Yarns to wholesale only for local yarn shops by the first of the year.
We already have a nice list of local shops carrying our yarns and patterns and we would like for our yarns to be in as many shops as possible by the end of the year.
We love getting to know our customers and do not want that to stop! For those of you who do not have a local yarn shop we have opened our etsy shop, KnitFitKnitter so that you may still purchase our yarns! This shop is in stock yarns and fibers only and will ship within 48 hours of payment.

What about yarn clubs? We will continue to offer our special clubs every so often.

KnitMinder App for iPhone!

How did I ever live without this little device?! I love, love, love my KnitMinder App for the iPhone. It is a MUST have for designers! Of course being in my phone it goes every where with me so I don't have to worry about remember a notebook and a pen. It also has my row counter too! The neatest part is in the log book I can take a photo of my progress. Seriously if you have an iPhone and do not have this app you're missing out.

I've been doing a lot of knitting lately (with the Minder!) but I unfortunately cannot show it since it is for the Twilight Club and the projects are secret! I can't wait until Aug so I can show you this first one! After I finish the sock I am currently working on I plan on doing the sleeves on Parker's sweater. It shouldn't take long. It's been a great mindless project I just have things that HAD to be done!
Knit Fit Hand Painted Yarns are popping up in several new shops across the US. If your shop doesn't carry it make sure you suggest it to them! We love supporting the local yarn shops!

Last weekend I took B and the baby to Tweetsie Railroad to meet Dora and Diego!!! They had a BLAST!

I've been knitting Twilight socks like mad and I am really excited for the first shipment! I've also finished the body of the baby sweater and will knit the sleeves as soon as I bind off these socks. Parker has unfortunately been a pistol this week and I have had little knitting time. :-( Hopefully its just a growing spurt and will work it's way out soon!
I've also done some new kettle dyes on the Etsy shop. Check them out!

Been meaning to blog for days....

I have all of these thoughts in my head and not enough hours to execute them! I will say that we are working on a lot of new stuff for fall. New yarn lines, new colors.... oh the fun! I'm really excited about the new Twilight Club. We have a lot of excited members and I am anxious for them to see the yarn and knit the patterns!
We also added some Semi-Solid yarn. It's in the Etsy Shop right now.
Man, has it been hot! Really hot when you slave over dye pots all day! This is what I decided I needed after a hot day in the studio...

I also tried to take a matching 4th of July photo of the boys. Usually it's the little one crying. Yesterday it was the big one!

But everyone cheers up when they see this face. He's never mad, he just looks that way!

Spinning and knitting....

I have finished spinning this beautiful roving from GalesArt in Sweet Pea. I am resting it hoping to ply tonight. I'm thinking Navajo plying. It's fingering weight. Next is this roving that I dyed Sunday for ME! Its bamboo/merino. I dyed 8 oz for myself!
Parker's sweater is well on its way to being done. I have done a lot of work on Twilight socks so it has kinda been on the back burner but it has been GREAT for mindless knitting. I have been working a lot on it as I nurse him. I did do one boo boo, but it will work fine. I intended it to be a cardi and I forgot to quit the beginning of the row increases. Now it will be a kimono style! I have taken fairly good notes so I can write it up when I'm done!
Don't forget to sign up for the Bundled Babies Sweater club to get hand painted yarn for your little ones fall/winter apparel! I will get the pattern written up and send it to club members before the club is over.

I've had a lot of customer request for a FIBER Twilight Club and here is what I have decided.
The colorways will be the SAME as the sock club and the fiber will be 8 oz of a superwash fiber each month. Shipments include the sock pattern as well! (fibers will be superwash merino, superwash BFL. Bamboo blends etc.)

As the Baby Bums does you will have the gender neutral, girly and boy options as well as the infant/toddler options. Sign ups will open Monday morning and run through July 1st OR we fill up. Shipments will start the 3rd week in July with the thought of fall coming on for sweaters! Infant shipments include 2 main color skein (plenty for a long sleeve infant sweater and a hat) and 1/2 of a contrasting color for trims etc. Price is $37 including shipping per month. Did you know that I actually still do knit?! Well, I do! Between taking care of the boys and everyone's yarn needs, I rarely do get the time but I cast on for a new sweater for P last night while watching The Curious Case of Benjamin Button (a very good movie by the way!) It is knit in June's Baby Bums yarn so if you haven't gotten yours yet and don't want to be spoiled, LOOK AWAY! Hopefully I will get it done fairly quick and if I like it I will write up the pattern for everyone. Basically it is top down with an afterthought border and hopefully (I said hopefully!) I will fix it so it is SEAM FREE!

Well that's why I can't work in a doughnut shop. I would eat them all! It's also a problem when your job is to dye yarn that appeal to your customers and then let it slip through your hands as the postal guy takes it off to its new home where it will be loved and cared for and created into a work of art.
This is one of those skeins I hate to let go. Every time I dye it my heart aches to package it up!

What's been happening?

Well, this spring has been insanely busy! With so many club members (we love you all!) new wholesale orders AND keeping the shop orders going out and the store stocked, there has been very little free time. I haven't gotten too much knitting done but I did do some shopping!

This is from another indie dyer, Gales Art. Wonderful to spin! I have actually knitted it up too. I will take photos of it after it has been blocked!

Well it has been well over a month since the last blog. In the amount of time a lot has happened! B turned 2, P was born (well that was only 2 weeks ago) and the Baby Bums Soakers and Longies Club is well under way! :-)
The last month of the 3 month sock club is shipping out this week, which means it is time to open up a new one for May shipments just as promised. I am opening them up this evening and leaving them open until Sunday at Midnight or 50 subscribers whichever comes first. I have chosen to reduce the work load with the new baby and all the fiber shows coming up so it will be first come first serve!
Also due to the demand I am going to open up a new round of Baby Bums in the next few weeks to start in June. Same as the first round but I will only take 25 this time to keep the dye load manageable.
I just updated the website to add more colorways to the Supreme (the soakers and longies yarn) but all club colorways are exclusive to the club.
There are a couple of wholesale orders I am also working on. Remember, if you recommend us to your LYS remember to tell us when they order so you can get your $50 worth of free yarn!

We are currently moving! If you e-mail a request, question etc. and do not get a reply right away please be patient. We hope to be finished moving by the 8th.
This also means no yarn will be dyed starting tomorrow the 27th through the 8th. Don't worry, club yarn has been taking care of!
Because I hate moving stuff we are starting a March Madness sale. A lot of our kits are 50% off (limited to what is in stock!) as well as other notions that I do not want to pack!
I also will be listing some destash items that I don't want to take as well.
I am really excited about the longies yarn going out next week. I love it all!

Unfortunately our 6 month sock and fiber clubs are closed for this period. However with our new promos I am getting tons of request to open it back up for a bit. I wish a could, but that wouldn't be fair to everyone and I believe I have as many as I can handle in these clubs for right now! To avoid too much disappointment we are opening up a 3 month Sock Club.
Sign-ups are open until February 1st at midnight EST only! Colorways will work with the 6 month clubs so if you are in one of those don't worry, you aren't missing out on anything! The shop will be updated Tuesday to add new colorways and Temptress for those of you that are waiting!
I am working on adding the popular colorways to fiber form. Right now Wicked Witch is finished. Brooks is drying and I am also adding "Swamp Thing". "Swamp Thing" came from a customer request.
Also pictured here is Pucci. A new colorway pictured in Footapy. I have been super busy getting club yarn and fiber ready. Club yarn ships this Friday the 30th! I hope everyone loves this colorway. I am having a hard time keeping it a secret I love it so much! I will post a photo here when I am sure everyone received theirs.

I have been soooo busy dyeing orders, club yarn and fiber that I have had barely ANY time to create new colorways! I have 3 new ones to add to the website this week as well as a new base yarn!

This is called Slumber and is pictured in Temptress 80/20 Superwash Merino/Tencel Sport Weight 370 yard skeins. Coming soon to the web site!
This colorway was inspired by my super cool new bedroom slippers! :-)

There are 2 more new colorways, one called Puccini, and another called Twilight Toes. They are currently drying and as soon as they are dry I will post photos!

Several new colorways coming soon... the first skeins are headed to Spin a Yarn in West Jefferson, NC. I am also headed to Spin a Yarn this Saturday for Christmas in July. This is a big event up in the mountains with tons of arts and crafts and people! I am looking forward to spending the whole day in fiber and spinning yarn. If you are in NC you should definitely make the trip and come and see us!
I am also turning the heel on the barn socks, and I have cast on for a new design.

2 new pairs of socks... I cast on for a pair of Holey socks last night. These socks will be for myself.
I also started a sock that I call "Barn Socks" which is a new design that I hope to have finish and tested by the end of July.
We had a big turn out at the 2-at-a-time socks class at Chix with Stix in Lenoir, NC. Looking forward to doing it again next weekend!
I have also been dyeing a lot of yarn today. I have been dyeing Ecstasy in some new colorways and I love it! This base yarn is to "dye" for (pardon my pun) and I am loving the new colors. There are 3 of them, and they are pastels. Pictures to come soon!
I also have a new furry creature of the feline type. She was a rescue from the streets that Forgotten Felines of Forsyth brought in to the hospital to have spayed Friday. She captured my heart and now lives with me here. I will post photos as soon as I get them. She settled in a little too well! She loves the dogs. B loves her, a little too much, but she is doing well with it!

I love this method! It is the end of second sock syndrome. I am currently teaching classes at yarn shops in North Carolina using this method. It is a life saver for me.
Here is a pair that I am working on using Nature's Choice in the Backyarnigans colorway. I am loving Nature's Choice (bamboo blend) for summer socks, and so are my customers!

I have several new base yarns and have redone part of the site.
I am in love with Endurance and Ecstasy. They are fabulous. I also love Bambaby. It is a green yarn and perfect for baby sweaters (which is what I love knitting).
A new alpaca yarn in DK weight and a Suri alpaca and BFL fingering weight yarn.
I am really excited about carrying these new yarns!

Updated Etsy shop, FO, WIP...

I have updated the etsy shop with a couple of new colorways (etsy.com/knitfitknitting) but only a few skeins are available.

I am in the process of moving and am just getting started back up full force.

I also have a FO! Wow, that's been awhile... It is a sock in my own design and my own yarn... pattern will be free on my web site (I will also post here when it is done) and the colorway will be available soon as well.

Believe it or not I have never made a pair of socks using the monkey pattern. Well I cast on last night! I am using some yarn I dyed myself and some of my stitch markers as well. Fittingly I used little monkies!

The rest of the new yarns are still drying... photos when they are done!

I know I know, I need to blog more than every 2.5 months. I am working on it. I am in the process of dyeing a bunch a spring colors. Hopefully I can skein them and post photos tomorrow. I am also sending new colorways to some LYS carrying my yarn.
There are several sock patterns being tested as well. Watch out for them.

Well, I did finish my hat! Will upload photos this evening.
On Monday Febe had a litter of 2 adorable male pups! An Apricot and a Black. Alfredo and Cole are their names.
Also my wheel came! YAY! My boyfriend was so good and helped me finish it and he put it together for me! He is awesome. I am still getting used to it, but I know I am going to LOVE it!
Unfortunately today I am too busy updating the shop to spin. Lots of stuff going up today. New patterns this week.
I LOVE the pattern for the sock club this month, it is gorgeous! (if I do say so myself!)
I will post on here later when the shop is all updated.
I also got a new "day job" this week which I love. Things went horribly wrong at my old job and I needed to move on. So overall, it has been a good week!

Wow, been awhile!

I quit posting here about 4 months ago, when I went back to work! Back in October I went back to work full-time, well, more than full-time. My spare time has been taken up with Brooks, and trying to keep up with all the yarn work!
Hopefully I can start updating this blog more often as to what is going on with my knitting/spinning life and the shop!
I haven't had that much time to knit, which means few FO. I have been doing a lot of spinning and just upgraded my wheel today!
This means my LeClerc is for sale. The new baby? Picture below....

Sample/Test Knitters Needed!

Wow have I been busy! Between all of the dying, designing socks and trying to build an e-commerce site I am out of time!
I am in need of samples for my shops and for trade shows.
What I am needing is for people to take my yarn and my pattern and knit it for a sample and return it to me. In return you will receive a gift certificate to my shop for anything you choose!
Projects will be sent out on a first come, first serve basis. Compensation will be based on the intensity and time of the project.
I am needing pairs of socks for somethings but if you prefer to only knit one, I need that too.
I am needing these as quickly as possible, so if you have a lot you may need to consider that before applying.
To apply please send an e-mail to knitfit@knitfitkits.com with your name, mailing address, the type of project you would like, how quickly you could complete it, and when you could start.
I will send you your supplies (minus the needles) and will reimburse you for your shipping cost back to me. You will need to send the project, leftover yarn and the pattern with your notes back to me.

I've been a bad blogger as of late, but I have been busy! I now carry Bamboo sock yarn! I have some tester skeins listed on Etsy.
Lots of yarn being dyed! New colorways too!

Also, Knit Fit Knitting features the original SOCK-CHARMS! These charms are knitting into socks or any other knit garment just as you would a bead. They let everyone know that your item is handmade! We have them on Etsy and they will be in the shop soon.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. In honor we have released Breast Cancer Awareness stitch markers. Find them on Etsy.

In honor of Soctoberfest, starting October 1st one skein of sock yarn per day will be 50% off! This will be for one day only and only for one skein! Check early!

Holiday Sock Club!

Now enrolling for the Holiday Sock Club! Enrolling through Oct. 1st with the 1st round of kits being mailed the 5th of October.
This is a 6 month club starting in Oct and going through March. Each month you will be mailed a skein of sock yarn only available to participants, a pattern designed for the yarn and a bag to keep it in!
Each month will feature a holiday themed yarn. Holidays included will be; Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Valentines Day, Saint Patricks Day and Easter.
Kits will be mailed the 5th of each month.
Subscriptions are available month by month, three month and 6 month.

Its been a busy, busy week! I am dyeing new colorways just for fall! Also working on the colors for the sock club. Yarn sales have been wonderful. Thank you to all that are purchasing and knitting with my yarn! I would love to see FO photos.

Life has been good lately. God has really blessed my business! Sales are going very well in the shops and online.
Now I have my stuff in two stores. The Greenberry House in Meadows of Dan, Va and Circle of Friends in Elkin, NC. I have been dying and knitting has hard and as fast as I can go! Tons of new yarn at the Greenberry House and Circle of Friends. New kits also! A felted pumpkin and a spindle kit. (learn to spin, you'll love it!)

Christmas Sock designs coming soon as well!

I also have a gorgeous colorway called "September" this colorway is available limitedly through September. I will periodically be offering limited edition yarns.

Several HUGE boxes of yarn just arrived ready to be dyed! I have already gotten started. I have 10 hanks in a new colorway called September. This yarn will be released Sept 1st through the 30th. It will be located in Greenberry House in Meadows of Dan, NC and my online shop (to open in 2 weeks) only 10 will be painted.

I also got a sample of a Merino, Silk and Silver Superwash yarn for socks. I am sure there will be more to be dyed and offered in my stores.

Also coming soon are handmade knitting needles and spindles! Stay tuned!

So here is what I am working on now....
First is a sock pattern, my pattern with my own hand painted yarn. I am pretty pleased! When the design is finished the yarn will be available on Etsy with the free pattern!

Secondly is something WITH a pattern! What a nice change!!!
A neck down cardigan made out of wonderfully SOFT yarn!
Yarn and pattern came from Knit Picky in Winston-Salem, NC. One of my favorite shops!
